How are the beds arranged, and who does the room sleep comfortably?

What is the bathroom like?
The private bathroom has a shower with a hand-held showerhead, plus towels, free toiletries and a hair dryer. The room has smooth flooring and accessibility provisions. The resort is largely wheelchair accessible, but it has no elevator, so ask about ground-level placement if mobility is a concern.
What is included in the room and with an all-inclusive stay?
In the room you get a free stocked minibar, a coffee/tea maker, free WiFi, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a safe, and daily housekeeping. The all-inclusive plan covers the resort's 8 restaurants and 7 bars. It also includes non-motorized water sports such as kayaking and windsurfing, and the first hour of snorkeling is free.
What are the dining options, and do I need to book restaurants?
The resort has 8 restaurants, including the Bonsai Japanese restaurant, the La Góndola Italian restaurant with wood-fired pizza and pasta, and a main buffet. Bonsai reservations must be made at the hotel. The official site says La Góndola does not need a reservation. Dress codes apply at some à la carte venues, so pack long pants and a sleeved shirt for evenings.
Are there pools and activities nearby for a mixed group of adults and children?
The resort has 4 outdoor pools, including a children's pool and splash area. La Cascada Aquabar is an adults-only pool and swim-up bar, and that rule applies to that area only. There are also a fitness centre, 2 outdoor tennis courts, and yoga on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Spa Sensations offers massages, including on the beach, by the pool or in the jungle, but treatments need a reservation.
What are check-in times, and what should I know about fees and parking?
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and check-out is by 12:00 noon. The lead guest must be at least 18. Free self-parking is available on site. A local city tax of MXN 58.66 per accommodation, per night is charged at the property. The hotel is smoke-free, and pets are not allowed.
How do I get from the airport and into Playa del Carmen?
Cancún International Airport is about 60 km away, and a private shuttle takes roughly 55–60 minutes. The hotel's airport shuttle is available for an extra charge. There is no complimentary local shuttle. Fifth Avenue is about a 10-minute taxi ride away, and the ferry terminal for Cozumel is about 2.7 km from the hotel.
Is there anything about the 2026 season I should know before booking?
Iberostar Waves Tucán is scheduled to undergo a comprehensive renovation and be temporarily closed from May 15 to November 30, 2026. Plan stays outside those dates. November to April is the driest and most pleasant time to visit Playa del Carmen.
