What are check-in, check-out and age requirements?
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and runs until 23:59. Check-out is by 12:00 noon, and a late check-out fee may apply. The lead guest must be at least 18. A local city tax of MXN 58.66 per night is charged at the property. Pets are not allowed, though exceptions are made for emotional or medical support animals if you contact the hotel before arrival.
How far is the resort from Playa del Carmen and the airport?
The resort is about 2.5 km from the center of Playa del Carmen in the Playacar hotel zone. Cancún International Airport is about 60 km away, and a private transfer takes roughly 55–60 minutes depending on traffic. An airport shuttle is available for an additional charge. There is no complimentary local shuttle, but a taxi to 5th Avenue takes around 10 minutes.
Is the resort open year-round?
Iberostar Waves Tucán is due to close temporarily from May 15 to November 30, 2026 for a comprehensive renovation. Plan stays outside those dates. November to April is the driest and most pleasant time to visit the area.
