What do I need to know about dining reservations and dress codes?
Bonsai, the Japanese restaurant, requires a reservation made at the hotel, and both it and La Góndola Italian restaurant are included in the all-inclusive plan. La Góndola has a dress code: men wear Bermuda shorts or long pants with a sleeved shirt, and ladies wear closed-toe shoes or formal sandals. The Uxmal Beach Grill snack bar by the beach and pool is a good spot for a casual burger between swims.
What are check-in times, age requirements and extra charges?
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and runs until 23:59, and check-out is by 12:00 noon. The lead guest must be at least 18. A local city tax of MXN 58.66 per accommodation, per night is charged at the property. Self-parking is free. Pets are not allowed, except emotional or medical support/service animals, which require contacting Public Relations or the Front Desk before arrival.
Is there anything about the resort's dates I should know before booking?
Iberostar Waves Tucán is due to undergo a comprehensive renovation and be temporarily closed from May 15 to November 30, 2026. Plan stays outside those dates. Within the open season, November to April is the driest and most pleasant time to visit Playa del Carmen.
